A cheap wet area shows up first

Waterproofing is the part nobody sees and the only part that will cost you the whole room if it is wrong. Ours is done to standard, certified, and photographed before anything goes over it, so there is a record if you ever need one.

The order matters as much as the materials. Falls are set before the screed goes down, joinery is measured after the tiling rather than before it, and the tapware is set out against the finished surfaces. That is why the reveals line up at the end.

What is included

What the price covers.

How it runs

From first visit to handover.

01

Measure and select

We measure the room, talk through layout and take you through fixtures and finishes so the price reflects what you actually want.

02

Strip-out

Everything out, rubbish removed, and the substrate checked for rot or movement before anything new goes in.

03

Rough-in and waterproofing

Plumbing and electrical rough-in, falls set, then certified waterproofing photographed before it is covered.

04

Tiling, joinery and fit-off

Tiling, benchtops, custom joinery, then tapware and fixtures set out against the finished surfaces.

Common questions

Questions we get asked.

How long is the room out of action?

A wet area is the quickest thing we do, and we sequence the trades back to back so there are no idle days. You get the dates with your quote before you commit.

Yes, and it is usually the cheaper option because the plumbing stays where it is. If moving a wall or a fixture would genuinely improve the room we will show you the cost of both.

Either. Plenty of clients choose their own tapware and tiles; we are happy to install what you supply, or to put together a selection and price it as part of the job.

Yes, to the Australian standard, and it is photographed and documented before the screed and tiles go over it. The certificate goes into your handover pack.

4.9 average client rating

We interviewed four builders and Unik were the only ones who talked us out of things. The fixed price held from contract to handover — not one variation we did not ask for ourselves.

Our block has a four metre fall and two builders walked away from it. Unik engineered it properly, explained every cost up front, and the retaining work is genuinely beautiful.

Weekly photos meant we could follow the whole build from interstate. The handover pack had every certificate and warranty in it. Our second project with them starts in March.
