European hideaways, full laundries and mudroom conversions — waterproofed like a bathroom, planned around the machines you actually own.

A laundry is usually the last room anyone thinks about and the one with the worst layout in the house — a tub in the way of the door, no bench to fold on, a dryer venting into the room it is trying to dry clothes in. It is also a wet area, which means it needs the same membrane and the same falls as a bathroom, and very often has neither.
We plan it around the machines you own or intend to buy, get a usable length of bench in wherever the room allows it, and treat the floor as a wet area properly. Where a laundry is being pushed into a cupboard or a garage corner, the venting and the drainage are the two things that decide whether it works, so they are settled before anything is built.
What is included
How it runs
01
We measure the space, check the machine dimensions and door swings, and work out where the bench, the tub and the storage can realistically go before anything is priced.
02
Old fit-out removed and rubbish taken away, then water, waste, power and dryer venting set out for the new arrangement.
03
Falls set and the membrane laid to the same standard as a bathroom, certified and photographed, then the floor finish laid over it.
04
Cabinetry and bench installed, tub and tapware fitted, machines connected and tested, and the room handed back clean.
Common questions
Often, yes — a stacked washer and dryer needs less room than most people assume. The limits are the door swing, the depth once the machine hoses are behind it, and whether the dryer can be vented or is a condenser model. We check all three before quoting.
Yes. It is classified as a wet area, and it is the room with a machine full of water in it. We waterproof and set falls to the same standard as a bathroom, and the certificate goes into your handover pack.
Usually. It comes down to how far the waste has to run and whether we can get a fall on it, plus power and venting. On a suspended floor it is generally straightforward; on a slab it is more work and we will price it honestly.
It is the sensible way to do it. The same trades are on site, the waterproofing and tiling happen in one visit each, and you are disrupted once rather than twice. We will quote them together and show you the saving.

We interviewed four builders and Unik were the only ones who talked us out of things. The fixed price held from contract to handover — not one variation we did not ask for ourselves.
Our block has a four metre fall and two builders walked away from it. Unik engineered it properly, explained every cost up front, and the retaining work is genuinely beautiful.
Weekly photos meant we could follow the whole build from interstate. The handover pack had every certificate and warranty in it. Our second project with them starts in March.
Service areas
